We're going to the ZOO!!!

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo. You can come too, too, too. We're going to the ZOO!!
Hogle Zoo is not much to brag about in the way of zoos. But I love it for little kids. You can see all the important animals, (like lions and tigers and bears, oh my), without searching through natural habitats or walking for miles. Aunt Katie and Weston came up to watch Cole and Emily while Becky and Chad were gone. We took the kids to the zoo.

Kalin's friend Phil came with us. They spent their time scouting for girls. They had Morgan trained to give girls their phone numbers. She would go up to a cute girl and smile sweetly and tell the girl that her brother asked her to give them this paper. The paper had their names and numbers on.

Hogle Zoo has a big elephant exhibit. You can learn all sorts of things about elephants. But the best part is the elephant that sneezes.

I can remember when Kalin was so much smaller than the gorilla. How did I get a son so old?? And how can I possibly be his mother?? I know I am not that old!!!

We need to teach Kira to "never smile at a crocodile!!"

Learning to Walk

I love watching the first attempts as babies learn to walk. This video is now very outdated because Kira has been walking for 3 months. I love to watch the hesitation turn to excitement as she discovers how to put one foot in front of the other and keep her balance. We are very glad she has learned to walk, but not so glad she has learned how to run. By walking, the knees of her clothes look so much cleaner. She also does not see the sunflower shells on the ground as easily. There is so much more to see now. She has discovered that walking makes it easier for her to go visit all her friends. Kira certainly thinks the entire world is her friend. She gets very confused when people she tries to talk to do not know her. She especially thinks every teenager should immediately stop everything to talk to her.

Splish Splash

Splish, Splash we were taking a bath.
Weston is teaching Kira how much fun the bathtub can be.

Relaxing Summer Nights

This is how we spend our summer nights. We do not have a lot of nights with nothing going on. So it was fun to spend the night racing around the house, climbing the batting cage poles, and doing gymnastics. I guess I have a different idea of relaxing than my kids have.

Morgan climbed right up the pole.
But it took her older brothers several
tries before they could do it.

Mason cheated!!! That is how
he is beating me.

Beware of those Vegas Boys!!

Weston got busted for underage drinking (of chocolate syrup!!)

So he decided he needed a partner in crime.

"Here Kira--Try this--It is very, very good!!"

"Weston, that is a no, no!! We aren't old enough to drink chocolate!!"

"But it is YUMMY! Here is how you do it. Do it quick before someone comes."
"They will take it away if they catch us!"

"OK, here goes!!"

"Uh-Oh! I think we're busted"

"Do you think they can tell we've been doing Chocolate Shots?"

Don't forget the classic see how high we can pile the sand

Fun Times in the Sun and Sand

The HUGE sandbox we have in our backyard has been the best thing we could have ever done. Our kids have played in the sand for 1000's of hours. Every spring, I swear at the sand all over my kitchen floor. But then I see days like this.
It started with Colton's baseball team playing.(they did the same thing when they were 9).

Of course when they were 9, I think they kept their clothes on and the sand stayed in the sandbox not on each other!!

Then they tried to recruit the 15 and 16 year olds.

(Scary that they can now drive) They think they are too old to play with sand anymore. It looks like the beginning of a gang fight!!

Then the younger ones come to help.

And we ended up with a HUGE lake in our sandbox!! Wet sand is so much better than dry sand. It sticks to everything.

BASEBALL IS LIFE

Introducing the South Valley Slam in their rookie year!!
With their starting 1st baseman and only lefty--Mason Olson
The 2nd team is the Spanish Fork Red Sox, who won the RMSB Memorial Day Tournament.

And their lead off batter--Colton Olson

Next we have the Spanish Fork Starzz, led by their superior coach

And their STAR player, Morgan

And finally we have the Spanish Fork Mets' power hitter

And 1st Baseman

Kalin!!

Beauty Queens and Baseball Teams

That is what our summer is made of!!
Actually, just the first official weekend of summer. Memorial Weekend began with the Miss Spanish Fork Pageant. Morgan got to hand out the flowers to the winners and meet Miss Utah, Jill Stevens. Do you think she will have Princess Dreams?
