Christmas came early to the students of Nebo School District. Or at least Christmas break. We woke up to 12 new inches of snow in addition to the 6 we had yesterday. And about the time everyone was shoveling out, the news came out that school was cancelled. Finally a snow day in Utah. Just a few pictures of what we did before 10:00 a.m.
Snowmen, Snow Angels, Rhino rides!!
Of course, Kevin is not loving it quite as much. He has to plow all that snow!!!
Much to our shock and delight, we discovered that our family of 4 children was going to grow by 1 more. Now our family is complete. Our blessings are too numerous to count.

A robber????
Oh No, the other night Colton and I caught someone trying to break in to our house.
Wait, I think that person is trying to escape from our house. I wonder why someone would climb out a window.
This might explain. Someone put a chair in front of the door so Kevin couldn't get out of the bathroom. It fit perfectly.
Our children are too old!!! Their tricks are much more advanced.

Spanish Fork Dons 2010
Colton has had a great year playing football for the SF Dons. He plays wide receiver and safety. As a sophomore, he has gotten to play 1/2 of the sophomore games, the JV games, and lots of varsity time too. His coaches have lots of good things to say about him. They start the state playoffs this Friday. Good Luck Dons!!
I think he looks like Matt when he gets to the line.
Just a couple of great catches
Every once in a while, I manage to film at just the right time. This was a great catch and touchdown in a JV game.

First Gymnastics meet
On Saturday, Morgan competed for the first time in gymnastics. She has been taking classes for 4 years and finally is at a level to begin competing. She competed in 4 areas and did wonderful for her first competition. She started the day performing her floor routine.
She scored a 8.15 on her floor routine.
Next, she competed on vault. In Level 4 gymnastics, they don't use the actual vaulting table yet. They use the spring board onto a stack of mats. They get two attempts at the vault and then they keep the score of the best vault. She looked great during warmups and we were excited to watch. On her first vault, she tripped over the mat and didn't look great. Luckily she got to try again.
She scored a 8.2 on her vault.
Her next competition was on the uneven bars. Before the competition, Morgan was struggling with one of the tricks. She could only get it about half the time. On her bar routine, she made it look easy.
Her bar score was the highest of the day. She scored 8.85.
The final event for her team was the beam. The beam was her worst of the day she almost fell on her leap and wobbled a lot. Her final score for beam was 8.125. She was really disappointment, but it was a great first time.
When the results were announced, Morgan received a silver medal (they divided the girls into 3 categories based on scores). Her team took second place. They were very excited to place so well. This was the first year Nebo Gym competed with a level 4 team.

Arrow of Light
The highest award in Cub Scouting and the only badge that can be worn on your Boy Scout uniform is an Arrow of Light. Mason received this award, thanks to a great Webelos Leader. Part of the tradition in our pack is to walk the bridge that leads to Boy Scouts and to be painted for all of the skills that you learned. I am not sure what each color means, but it is a fun tradition.
How many college degrees does it take?

Lazy Days of Summer
I officially declare summer over!!! It is easier to teach than to keep up with my children. I feel like I am in the car the entire day!!! Here is a sample of my schedule on Monday:
5:45 Listen to make sure Colton is up for his carpool to weightlifting, football and Driver's Ed (Thank goodness for friends that are morning people)
8:30 Drive Morgan to gymnastics in Salem
8:45 Run to Sam's Club to buy candy bars for the Football Boosters' Golf Tournament Fundraiser on Tuesday.
10:20 Empty car from Sam's Club
10:30 Drive Mason's carpool to baseball camp
10:35 Pick up beef from Circle V Meats
11:00 Empty 3 huge boxes of meat into freezer; take other meat to Becky
11:30 Pick Morgan up from Gymnastics
11:50 Wash baseball pants at carwash
12:00 Put pants in the dryer to dry before Colton needs them at 1:00 (PLEASE Dry)
12:30 Pick Kira up from Becky's (OK Drag Kira away from Emily)
12:45 Feed whomever is home lunch
1:00 Try to get Kira to take a nap while I
sort the laundry
1:30 Give up on Kira's nap
2:45 Go to Colton's baseball game
5:00 Come home; feed Mason's team (well...four of them)dinner; get them ready for their game
5:45 Send them to warm-up for their game
6:00 Go to the "State Champions" SFHS baseball team dinner and awards
8:00 Go to last few minutes of Mason's game.
9:30 Walk 3 miles
10:30 Crash in bed only to start over tomorrow.
School is definitely easier than this.
Tuesday's schedule includes the Golf Tournament, Physicals, Haircuts, Pack Night (Mason got his Arrow of Light) and Morgan's softball game. No wonder I am exhausted at the end of the day.

A Hard Loss to a Great Season!!!
Is it harder to lose by a huge margin or by a very small margin? Kalin's lacrosse team had a great season!! They flew through the regular season with 1 loss in their region. They advanced through the playoffs easily despite the snow and freezing weather.
They came to the state championship game ready to play. It was an exciting game. The Warriors played hard and were ahead 6-5 with 2 minutes left. Unfortunately Timpanogoos came back and scored 2 quick goals to go ahead 7-6 with not enough time left to do anything. It was a very hard way loss.

Our hearts broke for the team. The moms still have a hard time talking about it. And the boys have an even harder time.

Canyon Cub Choir
Morgan got a chance to sing in the school choir. Here is one of the songs.
Morgan had a good time. They practiced after school every Wednesday starting in December. Morgan loves to sing around the house and everywhere. She makes her brothers crazy. They knew all the songs for the program before the concert was even close.

Washboard Abs
I am "IN CHARGE"
We are in so much trouble when Kira gets older. She is already a schemer and a planner. She knows what she wants and figures out how to get it. One day, we were going to Mason's basketball game. On our way there, Kira asked if "her Kim" was going to be there. "Her Kim" is Kira's favorite person in the whole world. Whenever we have to leave Kim, Kira cries and cries. It is pretty pathetic. If I didn't know that Kira loved me, I might get a complex.
But back to the game.... On our way into the game, I told Kira that we weren't going to stay very long because we had to go watch Sissy play. She said "OK." We got to the game and watched for the first half. I told Kira we were leaving and she started to hide behind Kim. Kim started laughing and told me why. When we first got to the game, Kira climbed on Kim's lap and whispered "I not go to Sissy's game" several times to Kim. When Kim asked what Kira was going to do, Kira said "I go your house." (Guess where Kira went after the game)
I might not have realized how scheming Kira was except that this was not the first time. Kira was at Kim's house one night to play and Kim called and told me I had to come get Kira because she was not going to be mean and bring her home. Every time Kim suggested they get in the car, Kira would start crying. Kim even tried telling Kira that they were just going to come get Kira's blanket and Kira told Kim to go get it and Kira would wait with Kaulin. I went over there to pick her up. When I got there, Kira sat on Kim's lap and wouldn't come near me. When we talked about where she was going to sleep, Kira said she would sleep with Kim. Finally, I said I would be lonely without her and asked who would sleep with me. She said "Kaulin" (Kim's husband). Kira figured she was taking Kaulin's spot, so Kaulin could take her spot.
Her favorite thing to do when she is in trouble is tell everyone else that they are naughty and that they don't like her. She is excellent at turning on fake tears and fake crying when she doesn't get her way. Sometimes I have to turn away because I would laugh if I didn't. This shirt was inherited from Emily, but it is definitely true. It says "I may be little but I am definitely in charge" Colton took one look at that shirt and said we know that is true.

You are CHEESE!
At the San Diego Zoo, Kira decided that I (her mom) was a mommy tiger and she was a baby tiger. She made her cousin Adam a kitty and Mason a puppy. When Morgan asked what she was, Kira said, "you are cheese!"
After a lot of talking and convincing, Morgan became a panda bear.
Now everyone is an animal. She will call for her puppy and expect Mason to answer. Daddy is a Rhino, Kalin is a bear, and Colton is an elephant.
She doesn't forget what animal everyone is. And much to Cole's delight, she calls him cougar. He couldn't talk his mom and dad into changing his name, so he talked Kira into it.
