A story to tell..

A funny thing happened to me on the phone one day. My friend asked how I liked my new pets. I told her we didn't have new pets, but I heard she had some baby ducks. She told me that she thought my son bought some new pets too. I insisted that my son would never bring home any new pets. He didn't have permission and I was just in the garage and there was nothing there. She was pretty sure we had new pets. I again insisted that my son was busy with lacrosse and didn't have time to go to CalRanch with her delinquent son to buy new pets. She told me they went during an assembly at school. "Not my son", I insisted more strongly. We talked back and forth for about 10 minutes while I am insisting that we did not have new pets. I told her to have a great time with her little ducklings and forgot all about the conversation.

Until...........

I walked into my son's room two days later and hear a funny little noise.
"Cheep, cheep, cheep"
At first I thought the noise was coming from the balloons that were on the floor of my son's room. Both of my sons kept hitting the balloons all around, trying to cover up the sound.
"Cheep, cheep, cheep"
This time I followed the sound across the room to the other side of my son's bed. In a little box, with a heating pad, food, and water were my darling new pets. I guess I mean my not so darling son's new pets. (actually this happened in May)

At least they were cute for the picture and Cole, Emily and Kira thought they were cute too.
As a matter of fact, Emily kept insisting that we were going to giver her one of the chicks for her birthday. She even had the one she wanted all picked out.

I was nice to my sister and we took the chicks to live with the ducks at Old MacDonald's farm!!

Our summer in one word....

BASEBALL

and Baseball

Did I mention baseball?

Oh.....and baseball!!!

Lacrosse...A Man's sport

Why on earth would anyone want to run around a field getting chased by people swinging sticks at their heads? This is the new sport in our house. Kalin is playing lacrosse and loving it. He plays midi which is a defender and a scorer. They run the entire length of the field. We have had a great time watching and learning. Kevin's favorite cheer is "hit them harder!!"

It is such a hard sport that they need to take a couch to relax on after the game.

I think he does it for the girls!!!

We found shirts at an Idaho tournament that said
"Lacrosse Dad.....if I knew my son like being hit with sticks, I would have started sooner"
"Lacrosse Mom...beating up soccer moms since 1978"

Just a quick update on this month's sports!!

Chad put together a dodgeball team for the Spanish Fork Annual Dodgeball tournament before Thanksgiving. The Bengay Brigade (named after what our house smelled like for the next week) took 3rd place. Not bad for a bunch of old men. We wives had a great time watching them play. We were very proud of our old men.

Colton decided he was missing basketball, so he played on a basketball team this year. He was great at ball control and rebounding. He only fouled out once!! Their team record was not as good as it could have been, so Colton was a little frustrated. Watching Colton play basketball really shows you how he leaves everything on the court, field, dirt, wherever, no matter what sport he plays. Although every basketball season, I remember how much I hate the sound of the basketball constantly dribbling on my hardwood floor.

Mason decided to wrestle another year. He has enjoyed his years wrestling and has learned a lot. He can pin Morgan now with no problems!! It is fun to watch him wrestle. He really thinks through the moves, and as we know(MATT) it is all about the moves. If you have the right moves, you can win. (I still want my $5 back). Mason did a great job. He won a lot of matches. The matches he lost were to kids who wrestle more than just city league.

As always, I love the time I spend watching my kids and my husband do the things they enjoy. I would rather be watching and supporting my kids than doing anything else.

Gingerbread Houses

Here are the finished projects from this year's gingerbread house tradition. Every year I am amazed at the creativity my kids show.

Kalin created a shooting range for bows with arrows in the target.

Mason set up a living room inside his house with people too.

Morgan has a fish pond.

Colton made a board park with snowboarding gingerbread men.

And Kira found all the candy and thought making gingerbread houses was great fun.

Addicted to Chocolate!!

I know Kira loves chocolate, but it always shocks me how much. I like chocolate, but I would rather eat an Ethel M's caramel apple or something salty, so I do not know where Kira gets her sweet tooth. One day, Kevin and I grabbed dinner from Magleby's Fresh and Kevin got a piece of chocolate cake. We gave Kira a little taste. Kevin never got anymore. She kept wanting more and more. If I would try to give the box back to Kevin, she would freak out and bring the box back to me. She sat on the beanbag and ate almost all of that chocolate cake.

I love the Chocolate Smile. If you want Kira to love you, just buy M&M's by the bulk like Kim does. No wonder she cries when I try to take her from Kim's house.

16 means he is legal...

Kalin now officially has his driver's license. Besides the increase in our insurance and the fact that I have to drive my Excursion again, it is nice to have someone to help run everyone around and run to the store. And I don't have to worry about driving him anywhere. Although I just sit at home and worry about where he is and what he is doing. I try to keep the panic attacks to a minimum when he is gone. I have only freaked out a couple of times when he has been late and he has had his license for 2 whole months. Thank goodness for cell phones!! Maybe someday I will let him drive farther than Springville. :)

Sweet Girls

Such sweet innocence! Morgan and her friend Jordyn were "babysitting" Kira one night. They decided to show us what good babysitters they were. They took pictures of Kira asleep. They actually did a very good job babysitting, although Kira probably fell asleep so they would leave her alone for a few minutes.
